The Bath Half Marathon which took place on the 16th March brought together thousands of people from all over the UK who set themselves a huge challenge of running for 13 miles around Bath. Despite the one hour delay, poor weather and wet faces, I completed the marathon in 2 hours and 5 minutes non stop, which was an overwhelming and surprising personal achievement!

What is Go Sisters?
Go Sisters is a highly successful ‘girls empowerment through sport’ programme in Zambia. It is organised by the EduSport Foundation , a non-government organisation. Go Sisters has been running since 2002, it has grown to include communities across Zambia and is active in 4 provinces. An annual sports tournament is held to bring together girls to participate in football, netball and basketball competitions. In 2007 over 400 girls participated in this 4-day event. I thought it was about time to introduce myself to the Friend of EduSport website. As a little bit of background, I first visited Chawama in 2007 to work as part of the IDEALS programme and loved every minute of it. The generosity and support I received from Sharon Museke, Justin Lungu and jack Malambo was simply incredible. The memories I returned with and the experience I had made me want to contribute further and hence my involvement with Friend of EduSport. I’ve been rounding up sponsors for the peer leaders as I’ve seen first hand the work they do providing sport in their communities for the younger children. |

A big thank you to all the staff at Grangemouth Job Centre who gave generously when they opted to give a donation to Friend of EduSport rather than send Christmas Cards to other office staff. The effort was directed by Joyce Campbell, supporter of Friend of EduSport. A Christmas Hamper was also put together and raffled with Jacequline Neill and Evelyn Tinto being the lucky winners on 20th December.
