Founded in 2007, Friend Of EduSport is a not for profit making organisation that utilises education and sport to enhance opportunity and potential amongst under privileged young people in Zambia. Founded by Derek Keir and Fiona Campbell, two sport and education professionals who wish to improve the lives and education of young people in the developing world. We are continually searching for funding to maintain and develop our programmes that offer a bright future to each of the participants. Additionally we rely on the support and enthusiasm of volunteers in the UK and America to assist our fundraising efforts.
Friend of EduSport
Friend Of EduSport is a non profit organisation set up to enhance the quality of life in Zambian communities. We believe that with universal education Zambia will work itself out of extreme poverty. Education is a foundation, a human right, it is also health care because accurate information on AIDS and HIV saves lives and EduSport play a big role in transporting this message to young people in their Kicking Aids Out programme which Friend Of EduSport sponsored peer leaders help facilitate. Education creates a straight path from a good school to a good job. Our aim is to provide this platform in education for young people from underprivileged communities that are identified by our Zambian partners, EduSport.
Bono said that “Africa is the proving ground for whether or not we really believe in equality” and our sponsors are showing that for every one young person we help back into education that makes for a more educated Zambia, a healthier Zambia. In Zambia many children cannot afford the fees required to attend regular schooling. At Friend Of EduSport we raise funds to support the development of young people who are identified through a volunteer programme run by our EduSport partners in Zambia.

How we Started
Derek Keir can pinpoint the moment when he realised the potential of his aspirations. Sitting surrounded by a group of troubled young men from Stirling, the 26-year-old watched, transfixed, as they held hands and chanted African songs.
The knot of mid-20s miscreants, all of whom had been accommodated by Central Scotland Police at one time or another as a consequence of drug or alcohol abuse, had only just met workshop leader Lyson Zulu but within five minutes they had ceded to the Zambian teenager. Such an impact confirmed to Keir that Friends of EduSport could release the talent of a generation from the yoke of poverty and paint a positive picture of Africa............read more in this excellent article from The Herald, Glasgow, Scotland.
