How will your fundraising effort be used?
50% of the total funds raised will
go directly to support the Go Sisters programme in Zambia. The remaining
50% will go to the UK-based charity, Friend of EduSport, a registered
charity in Scotland (SCO38719). Friend of EduSport intends to utilise
its share of the funds to support educational needs of girls. It will
help to provide educational scholarships for girls to access secondary
education. The charity currently assists 17 girl peer leaders, who are
part of the Go Sisters movement in Zambia, with their secondary
education. By raising £60 you can we enable one young person to access
education who would not have otherwise been able to do so. The money
raised will also help to fund the development of a community library in
one of the disadvantaged communities of Lusaka which will open in 2009.
Between the three projects more young girls will be able play sport,
continue their studies and achieve an active healthy lifestyle.
‘Go Sisters, We Can Do It!!’
In order for the next generation to fulfil wider development goals,
females must be empowered to be a central part of this process. Allowing
them to achieve their educational and sporting potential free from
financial restrictions progress will be made. The girls of today become
the mothers of tomorrow so in effect we are investing in future
generations. Zambia’s youth of tomorrow will grow up supported by an
educated mother who can positively influence their child’s future;
breeding responsible citizens and a real chance of progress.
