Hello Go Sisters members,
Greetings from Zambia, the real Africa.
Good
to hear from all of you about the world series. We had a wonderful time
in Zambia to see a good response from communities that participated in
the series. Derek Kier Friends of EduSport can confirm from the 2
communities, which he visited.
Participating communities in Zambia included;
- Chawama
- Kabwata and Chilenje
- Kalikiliki and Kalingalinga
- Mandevu
- Bauleni
- Zingalume
There were about 50 girls in
Chawama Southern Region. The first game was played by little girls as curtain raisers before the main game. Man United team led by Alice emerged winners against Baptist girls by 1 goal to 0.
I
n Central Region, Chilenje emerged the winners against the hosts Kabwata girls by 1 goal to 0. There were 27 girls involved in the activity.
In Eastern Region, Kalikiliki emerged winners against the hosts Kalingalinga. 32 girls were involved.
In Mandvu, 30 girls were involved. Mandevu EduSport emerged winners by 2 goals to 1 against Chipata girls.
In Bauleni 25 girls played the 11 aside game
The sixth game in
western Region Zingalume compound did not take place. The game was postponed until Saturday 16th Aug. I am sad to inform you that the Action Team Leader, Esther, who attended the Go Sister meeting on Thursday 7th august at EduSport office was involved in an accident just by Kabwata bus station. She was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital where she was checked. Her condition is stable now she was not badly hit by the car. Apart from this sad development, the ground was busy with amateur league from morning until 16 hours. However the game will still take place this weekend.
A number of peer leaders from Go Sisters Action Teams (Committee) were actively involved in organising, officiating and conducting movement games which carried a message on human rights.
We see that this is a good start. Let's work together and build this pilot activity in the coming year and beyond.
I am glad to hear that the London and bath committees have been put in place. This is the important starting point in the Go Sisters family. Congratulations to you all and I am very much looking forward to see and hear that more Go Sisters teams are formed and participating in the series.
Appreciation to you all. Keep on keeping on.
