The current economic situation has not been affecting donations to Friend of EduSport, as a recent number of lump-sums have been gratefully received. Trustee Rona McIntosh is to thank for sourcing a couple of valuable donors to the EduSport programme.

Late last year, Rona sent a number of letters to potential sources of funding. This proved a fruitful exercise; as well as attracting a many one-off donations, Rona's fundraising campaign has led to the forging of a sustained link with Doug Henderson, Labour MP for Newcastle-upon-Tyne North. In return for completing certain surveys and questionnaires for the House of Commons, Mr. Henderson is able to donate money to a charity of his choosing. FOE has so far been the beneficiary of £175 from this source, and we would like to thank Mr. Henderson for his ongoing support.

Another valued patron to FOE projects is Rona's uncle, Stanley Kerr. Stanley has supported the sponsorship of Chibesa, from Bauleni compound, for over a year, and has recently learned of Chibesa's selection for the Zambian Under-17 football squad. In recognition of this great achievement, Stanley has sent a supplementary donation to ensure that Chibesa has new football boots as he embarks upon his training with the national squad. Stanley has requested that the remainder of his donation be allocated to Chawama SEE school. FOE send many congratulations to Chibesa for his selection. We also wish to thank Stanley for his valuable support, and wish him the best as he recovers from an operation.
