Friend of EduSport signed up for a
Just Giving page just under 12 months ago and we have
been delighted to see a range of events taking place around the country
to support our projects in Zambia.
This month saw
Becky Maybury complete an Everest Basecamp Trek and in the process not only reaching a personal goal but raising £455 in the process! Just last week the Campbell parents raised a further £250 from their quarterly charity bingo event. Both of these events will add to the total raised so far towards the Chawama SEE development project including the contribution from Fiona and Clare’s ‘cycle’. We are proud to say we have are now reaching the £4000 mark and we hope by the end of May that we will have reached 50% of our target total. Great effort so far!
In the coming months we have friends taking on various challenges including
Charlie and his team waxing off more than nature intended and
Eilidh chopping off her prised dreadlocks after years of development. We are fully supportive of
Eamonn as he looks to follow in Derek’s footsteps (literally) and undertake the
London to Bath 100mile run. May will also see
Lauren and her team take to the streets of Edinburgh as part of the
Hairy Haggis marathon relay for the 2nd year in succession. Another fundraiser who is stepping up to the challenge is
Michelle who intends to take to the waters of the Thames in
the Great London Swim.
But before all that takes place we have our annual
Go Sisters World Series Event taking place in various locations both nationally and internationally. In 2010, Saturday 15th May has been earmarked to celebrate the growth of Friend of EduSport and to host the 3rd London World Series tournament. As always our efforts in the UK are inspired by the work of the EduSport Foundation in Zambia, but perhaps more accurately the peer leaders who drive the projects in the communities. Friend of EduSport, EduSport Solent and EduSport Norway will be coming together to participate in the
mixed 6-a side football tournament, raising awareness of girls empowerment and celebrating the truly incredible work currently being done in Zambia by our partners. For more information about Go Sisters World Series Initiative please contact
