Bath University have awarded an EduSport peer leader, Lyson Zulu, a scholarship to begin his studies in England this month.  We have pledged £500 towards £2000 that is required to allow Lyson to take up this offer and enable him to cover his initial accommodation payment.

8 Bath students have visited Zambia over the past two years as part of the UKSport IDEALS project and were impressed by the work being conducted across Lusaka and in particular by Lyson in his community of Kalingalinga.

Lyson is a highly committed peer leader and has worked to provide sporting opportunities in schools and for his local community.  Furthermore he has been central to EduSport’s development as an organisation and has consistently proved a positive role model to many. Lyson is a terrific example of how the powerful impact EduSport peer leader sponsorship can have on individual’s lives.  Lyson was granted support towards his school fees by a sponsor from Norway after he his parents died and he was left under the care of his aunt.  As a talented footballer who has played for EduSport in the Norway Cup he was highly motivated and determined to succeed and completed school with good grades.

We are delighted that he has been granted the opportunity to realise his potential both academically and within the sport of football at one of Britain’s top sporting Universities.    We pledge to further support Lyson and look forward to him being involved in ‘Friend of EduSport’ activities in the coming year.   A report from Lyson on his initial impressions as he embarks on his studies will follow shortly.
